Connecting Employers and Student Workers since 2015

The Team Food Island Student Bursary program is designed to help employers in the seafood processing, agriculture and aquaculture sectors attract, motivate and retain student workers under the age of 30 during the peak spring and summer production months. Every year, hundreds of students across PEI sign up to work in these important food-producing industries!

High school students (including this year’s grads) qualify for a bursary of $750 after working at least 250 hours for a participating employer, while post-secondary students qualify for a bursary of $1500 by working a minimum of 500 hours. Please see the Program Requirements for more details.

Through our easy-to-use online portal, employers recruit and keep track of student hires, then submit a claim at the end of the season for a 50% reimbursement of bursary payments to qualifying student employees.

Get started with these simple steps:

Step 1: Complete the Employer Application Form and get approved by our team.

Step 2: Recruit students from our online database and by spreading the word that you are offering the Team Food Island Bursary.

Step 3: Identify your student hires through our website (all participating students must register there, too).

Step 4: Employers pay the bursary directly to each qualifying student at the end of their work term.
